Law
Accessory dwelling units, regulate
ACCESSORY DWELLING UNITS – Adds to existing law to prohibit certain kinds of restrictions on internal accessory dwelling units.

RS30369 / H0166

The purpose of this bill is to give private property owners the right to have accessory dwelling units (“ADU’s”) on owner-occupied residential property. ADU’s can be basement apartments or mother-in-law suites, attached or detached but subordinate to a primary dwelling.

Because it requires no expenditures or obligations from any state fund or agency, there is no anticipated impact to the general fund or other state funds.
