Special license plates
SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE PROGRAMS – Amends existing law to remove a weight restriction for owners of noncommercial vehicles to obtain special license plates.

RS31176 / S1319

Removing weight limit restrictions for vehicle owners wishing to purchase personalized license plates. Under this legislation, restrictions would remain on disability and dealer license plates.

Implementing the program will cost about $12,000 one time for ITD to program its systems. There will be some additional income for the agency from those who will now be able to purchase personalized plates. Such plates cost an additional $25 upon registration, and $15 upon renewal.
