Civics education
EDUCATION – States findings of the Legislature, declares the importance of civics education, and supports teaching responsible citizenship in Idaho public schools.

RS31312 / SCR116

This Concurrent Resolution works to ensure that the Students of Idaho are taught the importance of the history of Western Civilization, the founding principles of our unique form of government, and responsible participation in civic life, within applicable Social Studies, Civics, Government, U.S. History, and Western Civilization courses. Students’ lack of understanding in regard to civic concepts threatens the integrity of our Republic. Our nation must acknowledge its history in order to engage with the present.

This legislation does not require the expenditure of any state funds and does not create, repeal, or amend any state taxes or fees. Consequently, it would have no fiscal impact on the general fund or any other state fund.
